Success & Experience
Mr. Capozzi was born and raised in the City of Pittsburgh and now makes his home in Butler County. He graduated from Pittsburgh Central Catholic High School in 1982 and continued his education at the Pennsylvania State University where he graduated with academic honors in 1986.
He worked in Washington, D.C. for several years before attending the Georgetown University Law Center. At Georgetown, he again earned academic honors, was chosen as an Associate Editor of the Georgetown Journal of Legal Ethics and graduated with a Juris Doctor in 1992.
Following law school, Mr. Capozzi entered private practice in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, where he represented individuals and businesses in criminal matters, personal injury cases and business disputes. He returned to his hometown where he served first as an Assistant District Attorney in Allegheny County and later as a Senior Deputy Attorney General in the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General.
In these positions, Mr. Capozzi was the lead prosecutor in serious and complex criminal cases; worked closely with Federal, state and municipal law enforcement officers in their investigations; and directed grand jury investigations into allegations of public corruption, white-collar crime and organized criminal activity. He also supervised wiretaps conducted by state and municipal police agencies and taught the law of wiretapping, search and seizure and use of force to law enforcement officers.
In his private practice, Mr. Capozzi focuses on defending criminal cases in Federal and state court, protecting professional licenses and other state issued business permits and handling serious violations of the motor vehicle code.
Mr. Capozzi is an active member of the Allegheny County Bar Association, the Butler County Bar Association and the Pennsylvania Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers ("PACDL"). He sits on the ACBA's Judiciary Committee and PACDL's Board of Directors.
